When Darcy decides that she is friends with someone, she takes them under her wing and keeps them there, occasionally mother henning them. The best example of this is how she had become friends with Jane. Originally starting out as a last ditch effort for six credits before graduation, she forged a close bond with the astrophysicist. After what happened in New Mexico, and as the semester wore on, she had come to realize that Jane didn't have that many girlfriends, especially girlfriends that looked after her. At the end of the day, when Darcy would head back to her dorm, she would see Jane still bent over this chart or that equation. She always had a small circle of girlfriends that she leaned on through high school and a smaller one in college. But they had been there. She knew that Jane needed that support. Darcy began to spend more of her free time with Jane, bringing lunch and breakfast to her, even occasionally driving Jane from trying to find the Bifrost once more to go out and do human things. After New York, she comforted her friend by encouraging her that Thor would come back, even if he didn't call during the Chitauri attack. When Jane went off to London, Darcy inevitably followed, having been in Heartbreak Station enough times to know that the last thing that Jane needed was to be alone.

That being said, Darcy isn't afraid to speak her mind as there is no filter between her mind and her mouth like when she had no qualms about crashing Jane's date to tell her about her equipment acting up, easily sitting down at their table and helping herself to some of the bread basket. Her remarks are often said in a sarcastic manner and likes to insert witty comments inserted without prompt such as pointing out "Myuh-muh" or asking what "Myuh-muh" was.

Beyond her relationship with Jane, she has also become better friends with Jane's mentor, Dr. Erik Selvig. At first, she regarded him as just another academic. During the mess that happened in Puente Antiguo, and seeing that he suffered as much as Jane and herself did when S.H.I.E.L.D. took their research and equipment, Darcy got to see another side to the astrophysicist. She saw that he cared about Jane as well and that earned him back into Darcy's good graces. Their friendship grew after Thor's departure because of his involvement with Jane's research and Darcy's decision to stay on as Jane's intern to the point of Darcy posing as his daughter in law to get him released from jail in Thor: The Dark World.

Getting someone to pose as Selvig's son was the easy part: Darcy took it upon herself to hire on an intern, Ian Boothby. At first, she really just needed someone to help her carry things, take on the more physical work load. It wasn't until the attack at Greenwich by the Dark Elves, and when she got cornered by one and was saved by Ian flipping a car onto the Elf, when she let her own impulsive nature pull him into a kiss. That made for a slightly awkward encounter when they were sent back to Jane and Erik. After the battle, however, they resumed kissing. Not much was said of their relationship afterward, if there even is one.

Currently, the relationship Darcy is interested in is seeing Jane and Thor happy together. She likes Thor, thinks him to be a good match and an offset to Jane's personality. She's charmed at Thor's Asgardian upbringing, but then saw how he protected all of them when the Destroyer appeared to level the town. During his absence, Darcy was the one that was telling Jane to keep faith that Thor was going to come back for her, like he promised. Even when Jane became upset that Thor had already left Earth from Erik, Darcy was the one that held onto the hope that the caffeinated god would come back and not break her friend's heart. Seeing him at the abandoned factory got her hopes up and when Thor took off with Jane, Darcy was sure that things would get better for the two of them. At the end of the Convergence, with Thor going back to Asgard to sort things out, Darcy was sure that it wouldn't take years for Thor to come back. Not this time.

Darcy has grown from "taser first, question later" to someone who is willing to run into a Dark Elves infested campus to help Jane save the world. That's not to say that she doesn't get scared; she still will find a relatively safe place to hide but like in New Mexico, she helped everyone (animals included) get to safety first before herself. After her experience in New Mexico and the things they saw happening in New York, Darcy knew that things were going to continue to escalate if she continued to hang around Jane. Her loyalty and their friendship can endanger Darcy's life and, despite all that, she wouldn't trade places for anyone else in the world.

Her weakness is in her human limitations when set against not only beings like Thor, the Lady Sif, and the Warriors Three but also against geniuses like Erik Selvig and Jane Foster. Darcy was fairly average political science student at University that dabbled in hacking, evidenced when she was able to bypass the firewalls and security protocols on the computers computers in Tromsø to find out what was happening in New York. And while she has picked up some scientific knowledge in her work with Jane, she wouldn't count on herself to be able to explain most things that her boss does or researches. Likewise, her physical abilities are limited in the world of super heroes. Beyond her taser, Darcy doesn't really have fighting abilities or super strength, speed, or anything else. What happened in Puente Antiguo changed how Darcy viewed the world. It opened her up to a realm of gods and monsters, not just from Earth, but from the far reaches of the universe where potentially more dangerous creatures lurked.

Ow. Okay, not touching whatever I just touched ever again. Jeeze, Jane really needs to put labels on those kinds of things.

[Darcy curls up and pushes herself up into a sitting positiong. She eyes her surroundings and immediately gets up to her feet. Her mouth falls open at her surroundings]

Holy. Shit. What kind of Bates Motel did I fall into?

[She notices the glow below the door in front of her. The brunette looks around, this way and that, to make sure that she is truly along before cautiously taking one step, then another. Then another. Her hand reaches for the doorjamb and turns it, pulling the door open. She immediately has to cover her eyes at the brighter light.]

What the hell?

[Her question is by no means quiet. She looks back at the room, then out into the hallway before sticking her head out. No one up the hall. No one down the hall. She takes a step back and looks around the dark room again before looking outside into the hallway again. No one.]

Um, hello?

[She tapes a cautious step out of the dark room and into the hallway, constantly looking back and forth just in case something popped out. Was this where Jane disappeared to when whatever-it-was took her? Her hands were up in front of her, just in case she had to defend herself.]

Okay, Lewis, just you. You're not afraid.

[Talking to herself didn't really help settle the weird feeling she felt in her stomach but it did put some noise in the hallway, at least]
